suction bowls
by B. Addison 2010-06-21
While the idea is great, the suction doesn't stay stuck half the time - even after moistening the suction cup. It's also a pain to swap the suction between the bowls. I'd rather just have each bowl with its own suction. The bowls are still useful as bowls themselves and the suction is hit or miss. Mostly miss. The lids are nice and the bowls are cute. Those are the only reasons I didn't give this item 1 star.

It's better than nothing!
by DJ 2010-04-13
No bowl is completely static. Eventually the baby can rip it off. However, this one is slightly harder to take off, so it gives you at least an extra second for you to catch your child in action before the bowl goes flying!

Handy and sticks well
by WKT 2010-03-30
These bowls stick very well to the high chair tray. I also like being able to place frozen squares of food from the freezer into these to defrost in the fridge. The suction part is a bit hard to get onto the bowl though.
UPDATE: It is 2 months later, and my baby can remove the suctioned bowl from her high chair tray with very little effort. I don't know if this is because the surface has lots of little scratches and is no longer smooth. I'm bummed about this, but I still find it handy to take baby food to restaurants. The lids are great.
RE-UPDATE: Ok, I figured out that I needed to wet the bottom of the suction cup before sticking it onto the high chair tray. It sticks much better now, although I still need to press down on it several times during the meal to keep it on tight.

Bowls are okay, but there are drawbacks...
by L. Packard 2010-03-05
I just received these bowls - I ordered two sets. I'm actually thinking about returning the set that I haven't opened...! The suction base works about as well as what you'll find anywhere (sticks best on the plastic high chair tray), but as other reviewers have said, the base is difficult to put on to the bottom of the bowls. You really have to tug hard, and then sometimes the threads on the bowl bottom aren't completely covered by the base. Another issue is that once you have the lids snapped on (yes, that's hard to do too), you have an equally hard time pulling them off without the bowl jerking in the opposite direction. That might not be a problem if the contents are solid enough not to spill, but loose food (e.g. Cheerios) or anything a little soupy is likely to go flying.
In all fairness, I haven't tested them with food yet. If this review proves to be grossly inaccurate, I will come back and edit it...

Easy to hold, perfect sizes, very durable
by Victorian house renovator 2009-12-22
I've been using this feeding set since my daughter was 6 months old, and still use it now at 26 months. I should say, though, that my set has bowls made of opaque plastic, not translucent, in case the translucent has different properties. My lids are translucent, but not my bowls. We only hand-wash our bowls in ECOVER dish liquid. And we use them predominantly for feeding, not storage. That said:
What I love:
--Just the right sizes for every feeding situation
--Easy bowl/handle shape for little toddler hands to hold, too.--I loved these when I was palming them in one hand, stabilized by the small handles. My daughter loves these now, too, and requests them by color, "Mama, blue bowl...orange bowl," etc.
--The deep, coupe shape is good for a toddler learning to self-feed. She cannot scoop macaroni off a plate, but out of these deep, scooped bowls, she can get a lot of leverage.
--The lids fit very tightly: on the rare occasions I use them, I know I have an air-tight seal.
--I find the bowls are surprisingly stable w/o the base - we never use it, because...
What I dislike:
--Base is hard to get on, and doesn't suction well. I find it worthless, and a pain to put on.
--Lids are very tight: we use these for feeding, so it doesn't really matter, but for someone w/ weak hands, you'd have to struggle to get the lids back off. We typically use plastic wrap, now that we've relaxed a bit and she's over 2.
Because none of the dislikes bother me, I give these five stars. I love these bowls!
