built-in splash guard hurts

I have had a number of potty seats over the years, in particular Mommy's Helper Cushie Traveler, Disney soft potty seat, Munchkin Deluxe potty seat, Graco's potty trainer, and my son was fine on all of them, as long as they were soft. With this particular one, he hates it, he says the built in splash guard is hurting him and he won't make on it. The other day we were using it at grandma's house, he really needed to go potty, he tried it, and then demanded that we go home so he can go on a different potty seat. we had no choice and we had to leave. will try it again to see if he gets used to it, but it's weird that such a soft potty seat would hurt him and none of the other ones we tried ever did.

When our 20-months-old son showed an interest in using the toilet, we had to go out and find a potty for him. At first, I was going to buy one of those little potty chairs, but why go through the trouble of cleaning that thing all the time, if they can just start using the big toilet. Since we weren't sure how the potty training was going to go, we were looking for something cheap, just to get started. At the same time, I wanted something that looked cute and was practical. We went to Walmart and looked at all the different options. When I saw the Mommy's Helper potty seat, I was very pleased. It's cheap, it's cute, and it's very sturdy. I like the thick cushioning, and the included storage hook is great. The potty seat fits securely on our elongated toilet, leaving only a very minor gap. Later that day, our son used the toilet for the first time. He immediately loved his special little potty seat, and he was so proud of himself for using the big toilet. Now, every time he goes into the bathroom, he grabs his potty seat off the wall and wants to go potty. Even if he doesn't really have to go. He just wants to sit on it. The splash guard works well, and the contoured back provides support for sitting. My son loves his potty seat, and so do I. I'm very pleased with this purchase and would recommend this product.

Update (added on 9/1/2010):
We recently went on a weekend trip with our toddler, and we took his potty seat along. He used it on all different shapes and sizes of toilets along the way, and the seat worked great. This trip ultimately convinced me that this potty seat is a great product. And the price is just awesome. Also, the potty seat still looks like new and cleans very easy.

I was a bit worried about buying the cheapest potty seat available, but it turned out great. We never even had to buy a freestanding potty seat, just put out daughter right on the potty. I've since bought a second one for upstairs. I was dissappointed that it doesn't arrive exactly as it appears (the bubbles on both seats are red, rather than blue, the same color as the duck's beaks) it takes away from the attractiveness of the seat, but that is really the leat of my concerns. It works and my daughter likes it, so that's okay by me. It comes with a seldstick hook to put on the bathroom door so that it can be stored out of the way, nice touch.

Not for elongated toilet!!

I bought this product from Wal-mart because it said it fit standard & most elongated toilets. I'm not sure which elongated toilets it would fit b/c it was way to short for ours. There was a gap of 1-2 inches between the front of the potty seat & our toilet seat. Plus, it didn't sit stably into the seat. It's soft & comfortable, but definitely not for those who don't have a round seat!

My 16 months old son loves it. It's soft and thick. We try to train him early, he likes sitting on the big pot better, then on the training potty.
