Shermag customer support?

I purchased this chair as a Christmas gift for my wife and baby daughter. The night I put it together I noticed the strap was broken and called to get it replaced here we are still and no replacement from the company. They have told the store where we purchased it that it is not their responsibility to replace faulty chairs. The store is trying to work with us but this company is not working with us at all. I would have loved this chair if the cushion could only stay in place. If you are thinking about buying this chair I would advise you to buy one from a company other then Shermag, because if there is something wrong with the chair it is not their fault.

After 7 months I still like...

I got this glider when the little one was born. I like how it feels.
If I was taller (I am short), I might be uncomfortable.

The only thing is that I wish that it rocked while in the reclining position. I was disappointed to find out that when reclined you are stationary. If I had known that before ordering, I would have gotten a different one.

However I use it all of the time for nursing and it is very good.

ok, but not perfect

The chair in in itself is wonderful. The chair has brought me some comfort. The only real problem I have with the chair is the width. It is a snug fit when I sit down ( I weigh about 150) and I can't nurse my child in this chair. The armrests are too high and my daughter and the boppy pillow is wider than the chair. It makes it very awkward and I would rather sit on my couch and nurse my daughter than sit in the glider.

My other concern comes from the fact that while the chair locks, the ottoman does not. Already my cat has knocked over the ottoman simply by trying to rest on top of it. I can only imagine an infant trying to gain purchase to stand and the disaster that would ensue if the the child went for the ottoman.

I would also like to warn you about the locking mechanism. It will arbitrarily lock if you are not seated dead center in the middle while rocking. It is very annoying and it makes a loud clanking noise when it locks and has on numerous occasions waken up the baby that I had just managed to lull to sleep.

I would recommend going to those baby supermart stores and trying out different gliders in person before making a selection online. I wished I had done that in the beginning.

Piece of junk

Hate to say it but we have had 2 of these in two years. The glider mechanisim keeps falling apart. It squeeks loudly and grinds. I weigh 200 lbs. Shouldn't be too much to ask for with an expensive glider.

Also the fabric is not scotch guarded, so it stains very easy. Not good for a baby chair. These are made in Canada in a French area. Customer service is boarderline rude and short with you, because you don't understand the Thick french accent. I doubt I will ever buy another Shermag product.
